Supplemental Health Care has an immediate opening for a Student Health Services Registered Nurse, RN to support a local school we have partnered with in Buffalo, NY. The Registered Nurse (RN) performs and manages professional nursing care and health maintenance services for the Student Health Services under the general supervision of the Nurse Clinic Manager. Position Information - Perform RN student care and triage -Use independent decision-making and initiative with regard to diagnosis and treatment of students -Collaborate on student care plans that provide for direct and indirect nursing care promoting the overall health and wellness for each individual student, in compliance with identified needs and their IEP standards -Monitoring vital signs, glucose levels and response to any emergency situations -Administering medications and vaccines by various means including oral, nasal, dermal, inhalation, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intravenous routes -Performing clinical testing including tuberculosis (TB) skin tests, pulse oximetry, electrocardiograms and pulmonary function tests and performing vision and hearing screening - $1,340 - $1,457 per week Major issues that nurses deal with include asthma; childhood obesity and diabetes; students with allergies, both food and environmental; drugs, both prescription and recreational; disaster preparedness; crisis management; school health documentation for local governments; head lice; immunizations; mental health; oral health; visual health; school wellness policies; violence and bullying. Nurses also provide health education to students, including on sex education, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, bullying and much more. The Registered Nurse, RN will also provide education and community outreach programs for parents to promote physical, mental, emotional and social health and wellness. RN will work in collaboration with Supplemental Health Care's team and inter-collaboratively with a multidisciplinary educational support team to promote student success.


Requirements

Valid NYS RN License 1 year of Pediatric Nursing Experience BLS Annual Physical/PPD MMR
